Castle Street
Named from Sheffield Castle which stood nearby and was demolished in 1648

(left) Taken from the bottom of Angel St in front of the new Hotel which is built on the site of the old Angel Inn.
To the left of picture is the beginning of Snig Hill. Ahead is Castle Street leading to the lower end of Haymarket and the beginning of Waingate and Exchange Street. Castle Green is immediately to the left after the tall building and before what was the Law Courts (originally Sheffield Town Hall). The magistrate courts and police station are to the left on what was Water Lane (where the miners face gable end is)
