Pinstone Street 1904
On the right is the Town Hall and St Pauls church and grave yard. The buildings on the left were mostly owned originally by the Salvation army who had them built after they built the Citadel at the corner of Pinstone St and Cross Burgess street (bottom left out of picture). The shops were built to subsidize the Citadel and the Hostel behind the shops.

St Pauls church (centre) built in 1720 as a chapel of ease to the Sheffield Parish Church. The church didnt open until 1740 due to a dispute regarding patronage. It was demolished in 1937 and replaced by another St Pauls church which was situated at the corner of East Bank Road and Berners Road, Arbourthorne. The Peace Gardens now occupies the site of St Pauls in the picture.

This photo was taken a little further away down Pinstone Street on the corner with Charles Street (near left and right)
