FREE HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN.

This institution is situated in Western-bank. Its object is to provide medical and surgical attendance for poor children, and it is dependent on voluntary contributions. It has accommodation for 48 beds. Five of the cots are endowed; the emainder are supported by annual subscriptions-contributed or collected at a cost of at the least £21 each cot. Every annual subscriber of one guinea or upwards is a governor. Donors of ten guineas or upwards are governors for life. During 1896, 206 children were admitted as in-patients, and the attendances on out-patients were -Western-bank, 8,969; Wicker branch, 27,331. President, Henry Watson; chairman of committee, Mr. J, D. Webster; hon. medical Dr. Gywnne, Dr. Willey, Dr. C. F. Coombe, Dr. J. Black-Milne; hon. assistant medical officers, Dr. Wilkinson and J. H. Wilks, M.B.; secretary, Mr. k Gill; matron, Miss Pountney, Admission is free to all applicants. Early in 1893 a branch Hospital was opened in the Wicker, chiefly for the treatment of out-patients. This branch is supported by separate endowment, vested in trustees, and is under the control of the Children's Hospital Cornwittee. Resident medical officer, Dr. Margaret C. Dewar
