Tip for finding a place or location.
Want to know what a street was named long ago, or maybe what an area looked like ?
This tip is especially useful for finding an area where the geography has changed somewhat in the last 100 yrs or more. Its possible to transfer a "present-day" location (by using multimap.co.uk or streetmap.co.uk ) and then inputting the information into old-maps.co.uk
Find your location by keyword search using either Multimap or Streetmap, then read the X / Y coordinates off the displayed map legend. Then go to the Old-maps site, and in the box below HOME, enter the coordinates and click on Coordinates, then Search. The result is an old map centered on the present-day location that you found on Multimap or Streetmap. You may need to enlarge the map to read the place names.
