Roman Catholic Records held by Sheffield archives
The following Roman Catholic Records are held by Sheffield Archives, most are now on micro-film as they were filmed by the LDS sometime ago. It is worth noting that in addition to the folowing, records may be added to in the future as further registers are deposited with Sheffield Archives. It is therefore advisable to check with a member of the Archives staff as to the availability of any additional records relating to a particular church. Please note that the Roman Catholic Registers held at Sheffield Archives are covered by a 50 year closure order, imposed by the Church.
Cathedral of St Marie, Norfolk Row, Sheffield, The mass was held in the house of the steward of Duke of Norfolk, Coal Pit Lane (now Cambridge Street) from c.1700. Lord's House, Norfolk Row c.1710, Mission founded 1728. Chapel founded 1816, Present church founded 1850, became Cathedral of Hallam Diocese 1980.
