Brussow, James W.,
Lake Placid, Florida and DeTour, Michigan, Formerly of
Bridgeport. James W., age 66, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003, at
Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William
and Grace, brother Frederick and his beloved wife of 40 years, Alice Brussow
(Kaczmarczyk). His wonderful wife, Jeannette McGeen Brussow of Lansing, Mich.
survives him. Loving father of three children, Jamie and Dana Brussow of
Clearwater, Fla.; Brad and Carolyn Brussow of Rockford, Mich. and Jill and Jeff
England of Florence, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Robert, Alex,
Allison, Jonathon, Justin & Jordan; two stepsons, Daniel and Jenifer McGeen
and Dennis McGeen of Mason, Mich.; two surviving brothers, Bill and Linda
Brussow of Saginaw, Mich. and Marvin and Jackie Brussow of Frankenmuth, Mich. A
brother-in-law, Jack Allen of Polsen, Mont.; several brothers and
sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, many friends, former colleagues and loved
ones. He graduated in 1954 from St. Andrews High School and furthered his
education at CMU where he obtained two Master Degrees and was a Delta Sigma Pi.
Jim taught at Arthur Eddy and Saginaw High School. In 1968 he became the
Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Bridgeport High School where he
retired in 1988. While at Bridgeport Jim was a Basketball Coach, Asst. Football
Coach, Director of Co-op Education and an active member in the Athletic
Association. He owned and operated the Brussow's Christmas Tree Farm in
Bridgeport, Mich. from 1967-1987. He loved all sports, golf, bowling, the
outdoors and had a passion for building and restoring homes. He was a member of
the Moose Lodge, Eagles and Elks. He attended St. James Church in Lake Placid
and Sacred Heart in DeTour Village. The family will receive visitation from
friends and family on Saturday, February 15, 2003, for a Memorial from 1:00
p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Mass will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at St.
Christopher's Church in Bridgeport, Mich. Jim's wishes were to be cremated.
Officiating the Mass will be a longtime friend Father Robert Davey. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Bridgeport High School Athletic Department in
Memory of James W. Brussow, 4691 Bearcat Blvd., Bridgeport, Mich. 48722.
