Violent Deaths During 1922
January 14 - George Curtis killed in fall from coal wagon.

FALL FROM WAGON KILLS GEO. CURTIS
Skull Fractured and Neck Broken in Peculiar Accident Saturday.
Sustaining a broken neck and fractured skull George Curtis, Sr., 69 years old, living at 1515 Union Avenue, was almost instantly killed when he fell while alighting from a coal delivery wagon in the Benford Coal Co. yard, Union Avenue and Durand Street, about 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Curtis was alive when taken into the office of the Benford Company, but died in a few minutes, before Dr. E. E. Curtis, who was summoned arrived.
Mr. Curtis, was on his way home and was given a lift by the driver of the coal wagon. Whether the horse started or Mr. Curtis caught his foot in the wheel in alighting could not be determined, but the aged man pitched forward and landed on his head. Dr. J.H. Riopelle, coroner, was satisfied that death was accidental and no inquest necessary.
Mr. Curtis was born in England August 1, 1852, and was married there. He came to Saginaw eight years ago from Bay City. He was a stone mason by occupation. He leaves four sons, John J., George Jr., Joseph G. and Fred and two daughters. Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Chester Byron, all of Saginaw.
The funeral will take place from the home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
