Charles Luther Cook, Stillwater resident went home to be with his Lord at the age of 62, on Friday, December 31, 2004, at 7:00 p.m.

Kinship Report on Charles

Charles was born on June 5, 1942, in Tahlequah, OK. to Sam W. Cook and Rosa B. Hancock Cook, but the family moved to Stillwater shortly after his birth.

During high school Charles worked for Silvy's IGA. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1960. Following graduation the family moved to Ponca City, OK. where Charles worked for Hatfield's IGA and Miller's Thrift-T-Wise on Highland. He and Clarice Putt were married in April, 1961. They had one daughter, Dena. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He was stationed in Germany with a short tour of duty in Viet Nam. Following his discharge, Charles moved to Stillwater, OK. where he worked for Moore Business Forms. Charles and Robin McConomy married in November,1979. They had two daughters, Danelle and Jan. Following retirement from Moore Business Forms, Charles worked part time at Braum's, Wal-Mart, and most recently O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Charles loved his family and his Lord. He enjoyed people and watching sports on television. Even as a teen, his favorite pastime was having coffee with the "guys" at Smith's Café in Stillwater. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Stillwater.

Charles is survived by his wife, Robin, Stillwater, OK; three daughters, Dena Cook Watkins and her husband, Steve, of Edmond, OK; Danelle Cook of Tulsa, OK, and Jan Cook of Stillwater, OK; two grandchildren, Steven and Jennifer Watkins of Edmond, OK; three brothers, Sam Cook of Miami, OK, Carl Cook and his wife, Rose, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Bill Cook and his wife, Judy, of Carson City, NV; two sisters, Ruth White and her husband, Bob, of Chadron, NE and Betty Tautfest and her husband, David of Ponca City, OK; two sisters-in-law, Sue Cook, of Jeffersontown, KY and Irene Cook of Gray, TN, Beverly (Porter, Cook, Brown) Gogne, (wife of Marion Cook), of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Rosa Cook; his first wife, Clarice; three brothers, Murriel Cook, Donald Cook, and Marion Cook; one sister, Vivian Sims, one sister-in-law, Bettie "Pogue" Cook; and two nephews, Jerry Sims and Christopher Tautfest; and one niece, Sandra "Sims" Warrington.

Casket bearers will be Steve Watkins, Steven Watkins, David Tautfest, and Charles' nephews: Alvin Cook, Melvin Cook, and Sam W. Cook III.

Honorary casket bearers will be Wendell "Robert" Sims, Vernon Langley, and Elvin Sutherland.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5th at 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Sanmann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery, Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 1223 S. Perkins Rd., Stillwater, 74074; or Judith Karman Hospice, 915 S. Main, Stillwater 74074 in the name of Charles Luther Cook.
