Sarah Harriet Blackburn Obituary: from

Sarah Harriet Blackburn was born March 11, 1840 and died Sept. 13, 1906, in marion County.
She was the daughter of Andrew Thomas Blackburn, born 1811, Tennessee, died Oct.20, 1889, Marion County.
Andrew was the son of John Blackburn and Miss Pruett Blackburn.

Sarah's mother was Francis "Fanny" Blackburn born Aug. 11, 1811 in Tennessee, died Oct.20, 1889, in Marion County. She was one-half Cherokee Indian. Francis was the daughter of John James Eddings and Elizbeth Weaver Eddings. Andrew and Francis married on Oct. 20, 1829.
Sarah Harriet had several brothers and sisters.

They were Susan Caroline, Eli Jasper, John Wesley, Francis Jane, William James, Eliza Lenora, George Washington, Ervin Andrew, Pleasant Franklin and Nancy Elizabeth.
All were born in Marion County except Susan and Eli, who were born in Tenn.

Sarah Harriet married on July 2, 1856, in Salem. Joseph J. Jourdan, born May 1, 1837, Pike County, Ohio, died April 2, 1915, Marion County. He was the son of Aquilla Jourdan, born 1804, Ohio, died 1859, Marion County and Elizabeth Lockard Jourdan, born 1815, Ohio.

Sarah and Joseph started their family. They had 11 children. Aquilla Andrew, Pleasant P.,Frances E.,Sarah Caroline, Mary J.,Joseph James, John Logan, William Leonard, Albert Jasper, Dora Ann and Allen Garfield.

Joseph was called in 1862, to fight for the Union in the Civil War. he was in Company H, 111th Illinois Infantry. He was injured at Atlanta, Ga. on July 28, 1864. His left leg was severely injured, so he finished out the war as a cook in a hospital at Philadelphia, Pa. and was discharged on June 10, 1865.

Joseph returned home to Sarah and their children and he decided to become a doctor here in Marion County and he was for several years. Sarah assisted him in his practice and they traveled many a road in Marion County driving a horse and buggy making house calls.

Sarah's grandparents on her maternal side were John James Eddings, born 1763, died 1842, Iuka, and Elizabeth Weaver Eddings, born Cherokee County, Ga. in 1784, died Ripley County, MO. September 1841. She was the only daughter of Chief Dave Weaver. They were married in 1804, in South Carolina. The Eddings children were Nancy Elizabeth, Francis "Fanny," William Riley, James Bird, Jesse W.,Mary E.,Ivan, John Jackson, Richard D., Caswell and Harriet.

Sarah's great-grandfather on her maternal side was Chief Dave Weaver, full blood Cherokee Indian Chief. He was born Sharp Mountain Creek, Cherokee County, GA, in 1730, died at age 105 years old in 1835, at Sharp Mountain Creek, Cherokee County, GA.

His children were Elizabeth, Pesta, Besta, John, Joseph, Frones, Robert and William. As shown on the Cherokee Census of 1815. Their mother and their original Indian names are not known. Submitted by Carol Sellers.

Nita Darlene Morris, 68, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Southcliff Baptist Church, Fort Worth.
Nita was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Eddings; a granddaughter, Misty Morris; great-grandson, Alexander Hernandez;
brother, Danny Max Eddings; and niece, Denise Eddings Lowery.
Survivors: Daughter, Kimberley Rios; son, James Morris;
grandchildren, Mallory, Joshua, Michael, Phillip, Christopher, Stephen, Brittany, Caitlin and Jonathan; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jessie Campbell Eddings, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.
Graveside service: 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, in Skyvue Memorial Gardens.
Survivors: Daughter, Darlene Morris; brother, Homer Campbell; sister, Betty Yeary; grandchildren, Jimmy Morris, Kim Rios and Scott Eddings.

Lillie Mae Eddings
Lillie Mae Eddings Vaughn, age 87, passed to a special place in heaven on Oct. 5, 2012, at Highland Manor in Fallon.
Mae was born April 12, 1925 in Glen Rose, Texas to Grover and Zelma Martin Eddings.
She left home at a very young age to make it on her own. She had an incredible work ethic and worked cleaning houses, caring for children, as a nurse's aide, in a drug store, and a factory before moving to Fallon in 1959.
Mae met her husband, Leon Vaughn, while working at Smith Creek Ranch. She was the cook and house keeper and he was a cowboy on the ranch. They were married on July 8, 1966, and spent many wonderful years together until Leon died in 2005.
Mae worked for many years as a cook for the Churchill County School District. She was a wonderful person and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Sonny Fowler, granddaughter, Vaughna Bendickson (Kim), grandson, Guy Fowler, great granddaughters, Darcie Spero (Scott), Casie Gubler (Tim), of Fallon, Olie Fowler of Las Vegas, and Kylee Bendickson of Reno, and great great-grandsons Teegan Spero and Cooper Gubler, sisters Joyce, Dolly,and Irona, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Vaughn, her step-daughter, Betti Ann Fowler, brothers Roosevelt, Lester, and Ned, and sisters, Hazel, Juanita, Julia, and Annie.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr., in Fallon.
Burial will follow services at the Fallon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Fallon Volunteer Fire Dept. at 20 N. Carson St., Fallon, NV 89406.

Joyce Marie Eddings McPherson (1926 - 2012)
Joyce Marie Eddings McPherson 1926 - 2012 Joyce passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, peacefully in Bakersfield at the age of 86.
Joyce was born April 8, 1926, in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma, to John and Mary Eddings.
As a child her family moved to Delano, California, during the Great Depression.
She graduated from Delano High School where she excelled in bookkeeping and accounting. After graduation she worked for Shriers & Sons Farming Co. and DiGiorgio Farms. Later she worked as a paralegal for attorneys Jacobson, Montgomery, and Granger until her retirement.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Don, son Allan, parents John and Mary, sisters Dola Jones, Ethel Hill, Lorena James, Lou Gray, Margie Hunt, and Betty Mason, and brothers Gilbert, Floyd, Robert, and Jack Eddings.
She is survived by daughters Kathy and husband David Goodman, Phyllis McQuilliams and husband Kin Holloway, son Don McPherson and wife Barbara, and daughter-in-law Aleta McPherson, grandchildren Chris Torres, Josh Goodman, Justin Goodman, Eric Goodman, Colette McPherson, Melissa Warmerdam, and Craig McPherson and two great grandsons Tyler and Michael, and brother Howard Eddings. Emmit Earl Manley, Sr. 74, passed away May 12, 2010 at his residence in Marysville, CA.
He was born in Marysville June 16, 1935.
Emmit was retired after working for Beymer's Well Service for more than 35 Years.
He spent his days after retirement enjoying trips to Harmony Ridge in Nevada City, Quad Riding with his boys and grandkids, and taking trips to several different places.
Survivors include his sons Michael (Tammy) Manley of Yuba City, Jeffrey (RoBerta) Manley of Live Oak, Randy (Sissy) Manley of Oroville, Johnny (Tammy) Manley of Linda, daughter Janet (Jimmy) Thomas- Wolfe of Marysville, brothers Evert Manley of Magalia, Leroy (Marlene) Manley of Yuba City, sisters Darline Martinez of Linda, Loveta Salmon of Oregon, Violet (Dave) Saunders of Magalia, and his companion Sherry Manley of Marysville. He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents Marion and Goldie Manley, brother Jimmie Dale Manley, and son Earl Manley. Emmit will be loved and missed by everyone that knew him.

FLORA O. EDDINGS, THE EL DORADO TIME
TUESDAY APRIL 26, 1988
FLORA O. EDDINGS , 88, died Satuday, April 23, 1988 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
She was a retired nurse's aide and homemaker.
Mrs. Eddings was born June 17, 1889, at Pawhuska, Okla., the daughter of Simon B. and Idabell (Farrell) Ward.
She married Charlie Sherman Eddings at Ramona, Okla., Oct. 26, 1927, and he died Feb. 7, 1982.
They came to Reece in 1945, and then moved to Eureka inn 1970. She had lived in an El Dorado nursing home for the past two years. Survivors include two sons, Douglas Eddings of Blackwell, Okla., and Ted Eddings of Eureka; three daughters, Lila B. Seglem of El Dorado, June Woodling of Slidell, La., Martha Cyhers of Aledo, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Simon B. Ward Jr. of Ramona, Okla., and Claud Ward of Elk City.
Funeral services were held at the Campbell Funeral Home of Eureka at 10:30 a.m., Monday.

Juanita Eddings Ray "PAPA RAY�, 80, of Cleburne, a beloved wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at home with family and friends by her side.

Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial was in the Brazos Point Cemetery.

Juanita began her life journey, June 21, 1929 in Cleburne with proud parents, Grover and Zelma Martin Eddings. She grew up on a farm around the Gatesville area.

She married Marion Clifford Ray on June 12, 1951 and started their family in Ft. Worth and celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Many people walk in and out of our lives, but few leave a lasting impression like Juanita. She leaves a legacy of unwavering kindness, strength and determination to all who knew and loved her. Her presence will forever remain in our hearts. Her family wishes to thank the medical staff at Huguley Hospital and Community Hospice.

Juanita is survived by her children, Linda and husband, Richard Bush, of Hurst, Gary Ray of Mansfield and Jerry Ray of Cleburne; grandchildren, John Bush of Granbury, Sondra Bush of Haltom City, Ryon Ray of Arlington, Tyler and wife, Kristin Ray, of Ft. Worth, Rocquel Bush of Hurst and Jody Sanmuen of Ft. Worth; great-grandchildren, Garrett Bush of Benbrook and Madison Bush of Granbury; siblings, Lillie Mae Vaughn of Fallon, NV, Ned Eddings of San Angelo and Lester Eddings of Mansfield; and many friends and loved ones.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Zelma Eddings; son, Larry G. Ray; husband, Marion Clifford Ray; sister, Hazel Hadley; and brother, Melton Eddings. TALMAGE MILTON EDDINGS, posted5/05/2011Talmage Milton Eddings, age 81, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22 (2011) at the VA Hospital, Fayetteville.

The son of Fred Eddings and Dora (Rhynes) Eddings was born March 26, 1929, at Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Eddings; four sisters, Ora Owens, Cora Pickering, Leona Spears and Elma Spears; and two brothers, Freddie Eddings and Marvin Eddings.

He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Eddings of Arizona and Barbara Driskel of California; his son, Randy Eddings; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at Coffman Funeral Home, Harrison. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derwin Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews.


Linda Faye Gill wife of Emmett Earl Manley, Sr.
Linda Faye Gill Passed away peacefully at the age of 68 at Gridley Memorial Hospital on July 9, 2011.
She was born in Kingman, Arizona on December 28, 1942.
She was a long time resident of the Yuba-Sutter area.
She was survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Tammy Manley of Yuba City, Jeffrey and RoBerta Manley of Live Oak, Randy and Sissy Manley of Palermo, Janet and Jimmy Wolfe of Live Oak, and Johnny and Tammy Manley of Marysville. Her brother Morris Eoff of Live Oak, and sisters Dorothy Thomas of Olivehurst and Martha Eoff of Sacramento.
She also leaves behind 25 grandkids and 13 great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Eoff and Lola Porter, brothers Bobby, William, and Charles Eoff, sister Wanda Thomas, and son Emmit "Earl" Manley Jr.
She will be loved and missed by many family and friends. Services will be held at Lakeside Colonial Chapel, 830 D St., Marysville, CA at 10am Thursday, July 21, 2011.
