WILL OF WILLIAM EDDINS

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN: The second day of February and in the year of our Lord, 1754.

I WILLIAM EDDINS, of the County of Lunenburg, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God therefor, calling to mind the morality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die. do make and ordain this my last wiill and testament. That is to say, principally and first of all, I recommend my sould unto the hands of God, that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth, to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executor, nothing doubting that at the general resurrection to receive the same again. In the mighty power of God, and as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Imprints, first. I will that my funeral expenses and all my other debts be paid.

Item: I give to my beloved son JACOB, BENJAMIN, AND THEOPHELIUS EDDINS one certain tract of land containing four hundred acres and being the dwelling plantation whereon I now dwell to be equally divided amongst them, only my son THEOPPHELLUS shall have the Manor Plantation with all the said improvements thereon made.

I give to my son ISAAC two cows and calves, two sows and pigs, and one feather bed to be delivered to the said ISAAC upon and day of his marriage, or at any other time I shall see occasion in my life time.

Item: I give to my beloved son, JACOB, BENJAMIN, and THEOPHELUS, with MARY, my daughter all and singular my real estate and personal, and that there shall be on feather bed comprised in her part ot the said MARY, my daughter.

Item: I give to my beloved son, JOHN, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved son, JOSEPH, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved son, ABRAHAM, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved son, WILLIAM, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved daughter, ELIZABETH, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved daughter, REBECCA, one shilling sterling.

Item: I give to my beloved daughter, ANNE EDDINS, to be by her quietly and peaceably possessed during her natural life one certain settlement of land adjoining my manor plantation, that is to say, so much of it as she and her children shall be able to occupy, excepting in case she should mary, then the said legacy shall cease and be void.

Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife, REBECCA, all and singular my estate both real and personal during he natural life, but in case the said REBECCA, my wife, shall marry then the said estate shall from that time redound to the only use and behoof of my said children aforesaid as before invested, excepting only she shall receive from the above personal estate one feather bed and furniture. as also a horse and saddle whom I also constitute and appoint my beloved son, JOSEPH EDDINS to be the whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby disallow, revoke and disannull all and every other former will and testament, legacies, bequests and executors by me in any way before this time, willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and restament.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hand and seal, the year and above written.

Signed, sealed, pronounced and delivered by said WILLIAM EDDINS as his last will and testament in the present of us, the subscribers.

At a court for Luenburg County, on the 6th day of August 1754. The within last will and testament of WILLIAM EDDINS was proved by the oaths by two of the witnesses thereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded.
