WILLIAM ALEX MCCREADY

TIMELINE

William McCready was born in Pennsylvania, and later moved to Kentucky, Iowa, then Missouri.  Key dates and sources are provided below.

1806:  William born in Washington County, Pennsylvania.  According to family lore, William's father died when he was young.  He and his two brothers were bound out to another family.

1829: William married Catharine Walker, daughter of John & Mary Walker on Aug 2, 1829 in Campbell County, Kentucky.

1835 - 1837:  Based on the birthplaces of his children, the McCready family moved from Kentucky to Iowa sometime in this timeframe.

1840:  William & family appear on the federal census in Van Buren County, Iowa.

1845:  William & Catharine's daughter Catherine is born in Wapello County, Iowa (Center Township).

1846 & 1847:  William McCready appears on the Iowa state census in Wapello County, Iowa

1850:  William & family appear on the federal census in Wapello County, Iowa.
 

1860: William and family  lived in  Taylor County, Iowa, Jefferson Township (Plattville Post Office).  The 1860 Census lists William as a farmer.

1866: William dies on Nov 30, 1866 at the age 61 and was buried in Guillam's Cemetery, Craig, Holt County, Missouri.
