AFRICAN AMERICAN |
ORIGINAL U.S. |
U. S. VIRGIN ISLAND |
BLACK INDIAN |
Somewhere
among these Flags and Seals is my hertitage. This society calls me African
American, however my search leads me to believe that some part of me was already
here when the U.S. first came. My great great great great grandmother, Rose
(Turnbull/Joyce),
mother of Stepney Roberts came through the Virgin
Islands from the Coast of Guinea sometime before 1798. I am clearly a
documented Chickasaw/Choctaw and perhaps Creek Freedmen Descendant whose
great great great grandmother, Laney/Lena
Colbert was the daughter of Maj. James
Colbert of the Chickasaw Empire and Mobile
Colbert (Stevenson)
whose father was an Indian by the name of Naho. I
am also the great great granddaughter of Jack Harris
Pickens believe to be the son of Chief Edmond Pickens of the Chickasaw
Nation and the great great great granddaughter of Margaret
Ann Wilson, thereby making me a Black Indian.
