My husband, Robert (Bob), has some very interesting ancestors too, among them a Dutch trader who first came to America in the 1630s; possibly a French coureur de bois and his Indian woman; a Civil War soldier who fought for 5 years in the 100th Pennsylvania; as well as all those 'salt of the earth' types who didn't do anything spectacular, except make it possible for him to be here !
Here are some of them:
his "Shipwreck orphan" and the Faithful Steward (the story of the search, with web album photo link)
"H'Our H'Abram" VanAlstine
Alexander Boyd of the 100th PA "Roundheads"
