Welcome Page for Paula's Genealogy Pages
You have found your way to Paula's Genealogy Page.  Here you will find information on several of my paternal ancestors, who mostly came from West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.  Below is a list of things you will find on my web pages, including links to old pictures.  Thanks again for stopping by.

List of Surnames with links to pages about each of those names.  Clicking on this link will take keep you on this page, but take you to list of surnames.
Old Family Photos.  Clicking on this link will take you to a table below with links to various photo pages.
Register Report.  CAUTION:  The information in these reports are for your use as starting points in your own research.  Not all the information in the reports has been verified.  Some of the information came from stories told to me by my grandmother, as told to her by grandmother; other data was found online, but not yet verified.  Obviously, some of it has been verified, but I wanted to stress this point so you realize in reading the reports that you should not take the information as being the "gospel truth."  Although I believe much of the information is accurate, I encourage you to verify birth dates, marriage dates, dates of death, even spouses and children's name.
You will find personal stories about my paternal ancestors as told to me by my grandmother many years ago (and captured on audio tape).  Her story begins on the Umstot Page (where she briefly talks about her g-grandmother, Keziah ELLIFRITZ, then progresses forward in time from the mid 1800s to the 1930s.  As marriages occur and the story moves forward, the story will go to different pages (Umstot, Fleek, Haws, Hartley, Minnick, Bingaman).  The happenings described on these pages occurred mostly in West Virginia and Maryland, specifically Mineral County, West Virginia and Allegheny County, Maryland, although other areas are also mentioned.  The story will end on a California page, which is where part of the family ended up, but it may take awhile before I get that far along on my website.
Family Group Sheets (will continually be updated)
Currently, there are family group sheets, including sources, for the following:
Philip UMSTOT and Elizabeth Long TAYLOR Family
Solomon ELLIFRITZ and Hannah Jane Sands
James Henry FLEEK and Susan Jane UMSTOT Family Group Sheet
Simon Ulysses UMSTOT and KEZIAH Ellifritz
Clicking on this link will take you directly to My Other Stuff Page, which includes a list of documents in my possession that name other persons in West Virginia and Maryland.  Initially, I will only post a list of the documents, including dates and names.  As time permits, I will scan and have links to copies of various documents and newspaper clippings.  This page contains a list of names found among various writings and newspaper clippings, so perhaps you may find a name you know.
Links I Like (I think it is an unwritten requirement to have some links on your pages...grin)

Picture taken in Cumberland, MD.  There is some confusion over exactly who A. Browne Lynn is...read notes under photograph.
My g-g-g-aunts and uncles were Methodist, according to my grandmother.  I do not know at what point my g-grandmother and grandmother changed churches, but I do know they ended up going to what might be referred to today as chrismatic churches.  My grandmother was a musician and preacher, and as a young woman traveled a lot singing and playing instruments for evangelists.  Here are a couple church and campmeeting pictures taken in Falling Waters.

Links to Other Genealogy Pages

(Most of the pages I will eventually list below will have some of the same surnames I'm researching.  Some have become internet friends, and some I'm actually related to!!!  FYI, I always ask permission to link to someone's page.
Well, this link is actually to one of my other pages...but since it's my site, I get priority.  (grin)  You may want to take a peek at my STUFF  page and see if you recognize any names from the Maryland and West Virginia area.  I lists names of other people that I found listed in various documents, newspapers, Bibles, etc., that I found among my grandmother and my great-grandmother's things after they passed away.
The Periman Site - Among other things, contains more information on Umstot/Umstott and Fleek/Flick lines.
This is a terrific site that has TONS of information regarding Mineral County, West Virginia.
