The family of Jasper Chaffins and Judith Hunter

Jasper "Bird" Chaffins
b. about October 1866 in Floyd County, Kentucky
d. 04 March 1941 Knott County, Kentucky
Bird was the son of Samuel Nelson Chaffins and Nancy Jane Sutton. (MRIN 102)
He was buried in the Chaffins Family Cemetery 

Judith "Judy/Juda" Hunter
b. January of 1855 Kentucky
d. 18 Apr 1905 in Knott County, Kentucky
Judy was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Hunter. (MRIN 50)
There is no death certificate for Judy, they were not required in Kentucky until 1911, so we don't know why she died in her early 50's. She was buried in the Chaffins Family Cemetery

Bird and Judy married on 30 Dec 1890 in her house in Floyd County.

The 3 known children of Bird and Judy were:

  1. Harry Lee Chaffins (Sr.) 
    b. about 1891/1892 in Floyd County, Kentucky
    d. 31 Dec 1941 in Knott County, Kentucky
    So far we 
    Harry's first known marriage was to Susan Sturgill about 1912
    His 2nd known marriage was to Emma Jean Willoughby about 1929. Read more (MRIN 26).....
    His 3rd known marriage was to Elizabeth Williams about 1931
    Harry is buried in the Chaffins Family Cemetery in Knott County, Kentucky
     
  2. Isaiah "Zeer" Chaffins 
    b. 01 Dec 1895 in Floyd County, Kentucky
    d. 03 Jun 1974 in Knott County, Kentucky
    Zeer is buried in the Chaffins Family Cemetery in Knott County, Kentucky
     
  3. Richard Chaffins 
    b. about 1896 in Floyd County, Kentucky
    d. 14 Apr 1920 in Boyd County, Kentucky
    Richard never married or had children that I know of. He was only 24 when he died from Cirrhosis of the liver. He was living and working in Ashland, KY at that time. His brother Zeer was the informant on his death certificate. He drove to Ashland (probably on a horse with a buckboard wagon) to bring his brother home to be buried in the family cemetery.
