The Fancher immigrant ancestor,
William Fanshaw/Fancy/Fancher, arrived in the New Haven Colony some-time before
May 1643. (The ship's record has not been located.) "Fancher" is an American
surname, and with the possible exception of the Canadian branch of the family,
the vast majority were all born in the United States. Most of the Fanchers
who appear in these Passenger Lists (including the Ellis Island Records) are
recorded as already being U.S. citizens before their arrival in these ports - so
it should be noted that those records are not immigration records.
