ROGALINSKI, MICHAEL

The Rogalinski Family of Fayette Co, Pennsylvania

Michal (Michael) Rogalinski and his wife, Appolonia Grzegorzewicz, arrived in America from Poznan, Poland aboard the ship, Hermann, on May 9, 1889, which docked at Castle Garden in NY, along with three daughters: Jadwiga, Agneszka and Zofia. Another daughter, Anna, was born in Pennsylvania. Appolonia died in 1905 followed by Anna who died of polio in 1908. Michael then moved in with his daughter, Agnes, and her husband, John Suchocki, and remained with them until his death in 1914. He suffered a heart attack on the sidewalk in front of the H.C. Frick Office Building on Broadway in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. Anna and her mother were buried in the old section of St. John's Cemetery in Scottdale, but their graves are unmarked. Michael is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Everson Valley. The family resided in Everson, Fayette County, which is just across Jacobs Creek, the county line, from Scottdale. The men were employed in the coal mines and later worked the coke ovens for the H.C. Frick Coal & Coke Company. The other daughters married and lived in Everson and South Everson. Jadwiga married Stanislaw Szwed and Zofia married Albert Kmiecziak.

I was born in the Fay-West area of Pennsylvania and spent my childhood there. (This is along the border of Fayette and Westmoreland Counties.) Following is my line of descent from Michael Rogalinski's father who remained in Poland:
