Sister Lucy KAY
Page 203, 1894
In submission to an alwise providence whose ways we can not explain but whose wisdom we do not question and whose goodness we cannot doubt, we bow while in sadness we record the death of two of our members. Sister Lucy KAY and Father John C. ROGERS. Lucy, wife of Thomas KAY, finished her earthly pilgrimage Feb. 20th 1894 in her 39th year. In early life she gave her heart to Jesus and her life was one of loving service rendered to her family, church, and community. She lived not in vain. The influence of her Christian character, like sweet incense will long live to comfort and cheer her husband, children, church and all who knew her. Her illness was long and painful but in sickness as well as in health she was ever patient and cheerful. Her memory will long be cherished by the Coffee Creek Baptist Church where she was for years an active and worthy member. To the bereaved husband and motherless children we extend our sympathy, prayers, and aid. May the Great Healer comfort, sustain and guide them safely to the haven of eternal rest.

Father John C. ROGERS 1894.
John C. ROGERS was born Jan. 11th 1815 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, was married Feb 7th 1839 to Rebekah LARONE. Moved to Ind. In 1840. Became a member of Scaffold Lick Baptist Church in 1854. Shortly afterwards was chosen deacon. He united with Coffee Creek Baptist Church by letter after his removal in Paris neighborhood. Here his relationship continued until Jan 20th 1894 when he fell asleep in Jesus, aged 79 yrs and 9 days.

Servant of God, well done.
Rest from thy loved employ.
Thy battles fought the victorys won.
Enter thy masters joy.
To the aged companion who lingers patiently waiting the coming of the boatman who shall bear her not only to the other shore but to the Paradise of God where, in the presence of her Redeemer and loved ones gone before, she will soon forget the sorrows of separation and the grief of parting. The children, grandchildren and other relations we commend to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who was himself a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Go to him with your burdens and griefs and know by experience what a privilege to carry every thing to God in prayer. Respectfully submitted by the official board of Coffee Creek Baptist Church.

ACCIDENT AT BAND SAW MILL: This forenoon Norman GRAHAM, one of the men employed at the Band Saw Mill, met with quite a serious accident. A log had been quartered and made ready to saw into lumber. In helping to handle it he was in some manner struck on the head by one of the pieces inflicting a very serious wound. He was brought to Dr. GERRISH's office who made an examination and found a fracture of the skull. The wound was dressed and in time it is believed he will come through all right. He is resting very well this afternoon.
