and is said to have come to Tennessee, when a child, with his parents. The
COILES were related by marriage to the BETTIS family & JOHN L. COILE, a son
of JAMES COILE was the father of HON. JOHN J. COILE
a merchant, and DR. H. P. COILE. JOHN
COILE, father of these two, married MARY BETTIS, who was born in Jefferson
County in 1825, the daughter of JOHN W. BETTIS and his wife ELIZABETH LYLE.
