She returned to Switzerland County sometime around 1857_62 for a court appearance concerning her husband's illness. Then she returned to Cincinnati, where she worked as a seamstress and had her two remaining sons and her sister Lucretia living with her. They lived in rooms above a furniture store owned by Henry Brachman. Her sons graduated from Woodward High School. Her son Edward went to Boston to enroll in Harvard and was eventually able to bring his mother and brother there also. Both Edward and Thomas graduated from Harvard. Edward practiced law and Thomas was a college professor. Edward was an attorney in New York, never married, kept his mother all her life and left his entire estate in endowments, in honor of his mother, to Harvard College, Woodward High School and various libraries. Mr. Rochat was born in Kentucky, but came to this county more than sixty years ago, and has since resided within a few miles of the place where he died. He was the father of seven children, two of whom died many years ago. The living children are Charles, Clarence and John, all of this county; Rudolph of Breckenridge, Mo; and James of Council Grove, Kansas. The Bennington Masonic Lodge which was instituted more than fifty years ago, and of which he was a charter member, had charge of the funeral services which were held at the Bennington M. E. Church, Sunday afternoon. Rev. Moran delivered a short sermon, after which the remains were interred in Slawson's cemetery.
