JOSEPH FLORY

JOSEPH FLORY'S BOND

When Joseph Flory died in the Fall of 1741, his widow, Mary, was required to bring to court an inventory of his goods within six months.  The names of Mary and Joseph's sons, Joseph and John, all appear on this inventory.  Pictured below are pictures of the two documents, the original bond, which mandated the inventory, and the inventory itself, both of which were provided by Dick Gethmann. The fact that Mary signed the bond with an "X" indicates her illiteracy.
