Pa., Dec. 14, 1921, p. 8:
"DEATH ROLL - MRS. CHARITY ELLIOTT - Amity, Dec. 14. -
Mrs. Charity Elliott, aged 91 years, widow of Sebastian Elliott, died at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert McAfee, near this place, this
morning at 7 o'clock. Her death was due to the infirmities incident to
her advanced years.
"She was a daughter of the late William and Susanna Iams and had
spent her entire life in this section. She was a member of the Amity
Methodist Protestant church. She is survived by the following children:
Mrs. Lixxie [sic - Lizzie ?] McAfee, of near Amity; Mrs. Evie Frazee, of
Lone Pine; William Elliott, of Pi_ [Pie ?] Ridge, and Clark Elliott, of
Washington.
"Short funeral services will be held at the McAfee home Thursday
morning at 10:30 o'clock. Further services will be held in the Amity M.
P. church at 11:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Adam Rush. The interment
will be in the M. P. cemetery."

Pa., Dec. 24, 1921, p. 7:
"Mrs. Anna M. Bush Died This Morning - Mrs. Anna M. Bush,
widow of Stephen Bush, who died about a year ago, died this morning at
9:30 o'clock at her home at No. 121 [131?] McAdam avenue. Mrs. Bush was
75 years old, and her death was due to complications. She was a member
of the St. Paul A. M. E. church. She is survived by the following
children: Mrs. Mary Greene, Mrs. Ida Patterson, Mrs. Elizabeth Harvey,
Nathaniel Bush and Boyd C. [O.?] Bush, all of Washington. The funeral
services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the Interment
will be made in the Washington cemetery." |

| Transcripts of the Obituaries from The
Reporter newspaper, Washington Co., Pa., Fri., May 11, 1923, p. 20:
"DEATH ROLL - MRS. CAROLINE POTTS - Claysville, May 11 -
Mrs. Caroline Potts, aged 73 years, widow of Hugh Potts, died yesterday
afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Stewart, Mill street.
Her death was due to complications of diseases.
She was born in Harrison county, Ohio, where she had spent the most
of her life, coming here to spend her declining years at her daughter's
home.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. J. N. Mills, of Southern
Pines, N. C., and Mrs. C. L. Stewart, of this place.
Three grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Stewart home Saturday evening at
7 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. I. T. Green.
The interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery, Harrison county,
Ohio, Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. She was a member of the Mother's
club and of the Christian church."
"JAMES M'CONNEL - James Cope McConnell died last
evening at [6?] o'clock at his home in Canton township, of pneumonia.
He had been ill only a few weeks.
He was aged [78 ?] years.
Mr. McConnell was born near Tridelphia, W. Va., son of
Samuel McConnell.
He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Ann Fordyce,
February 10, 1869. She survives with the following children: C. Edward,
Clinton W., Harry L., McConnell, and Mrs. J. M. Stollar, all of
Washington, and Mrs. Cora Moore, of Claysville. He leaves, also, [13 ?
18 ?] grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. McConnell moved to West Finley township shortly
after his marriage. He had been a resident of Washington county since
18[69?], following farming the greater part of his life.
The funeral services will be held Saturday at the home
of his son, S. Edward McConnell, in Canton township, at an hour to be
announced later.
Interment will be in the Claysville cemetery."

Pa., Sat., May 12, 1923, p. 5:

Mrs. Carrie Ellsworth - The many Washington friends of Mrs. Joseph H.
Ellsworth will learn with sorrow of her death, which occurred Wednesday
at her late home at Bradford.
The Ellsworth family came to Washington during the early days of the
oil excitement in this section, and made their home here for about ten
years, from 1890 to 1900.
The Ellsworth home was in North avenue near Beau street.
Mr. Ellsworth died in 1910.
Mrs. Ellsworth's maiden name was Carrie Artley.
For a number of years she had been at her old home in Bradford, a
confirmed invalid.
One daughter, Pauline, married and residing with her mother, and a
brother, John Artley, also of Bradford, survives her. The funeral
services were held yesterday."
"Funeral of J. C. McConnell - The funeral services
for James ___ McConnell of Canton township will be held at the home of
his son, S. Edward McConnell, of Canton township, at 1 o'clock this
afternoon. In charge of the
Rev. Mr. Ruble, of West Alexander.
Interment will be in the Claysville cemetery."
"Funeral of Mrs. W. H. Slusser, Jr. - The funeral
of Mrs. William Slusser, Jr. will be held at her late home, 110 Maple
avenue, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Ralph
Jamieson, of the Third United Presbyterian church.
The interment will be in the Washington cemetery." |

Sat., May 12, 1923, p. 9:
"DEATHS -
"MRS. REBECCA A. DAILEY - Mrs. Rebecca Ann Dailey,
aged 75 years, wife of the late Nathan Dailey, died last evening at 5:45
o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W J. Calvert, who resides
north of Washington on the W. J. Munce farm, following an illness of
more than a year.
Mrs. Dailey was born in Greene county.
Besides Mrs. Calvert, she leaves three sons: O. M.
Dailey, Wetzel county, W. Va.; D. C. Dailey, of Claysville, and Walter
Dailey, of near Gretna."
"MARLIN M'CARTY [McCarty]- Claysville, May [12 ?] - Marlin McCarty,
aged [86 ?] years, died Friday at the home of his brother, Harry
McCarty, with whom he made his home, following an illness die to general
debility.
For 15 years, he resided in Kansas.
He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the
Christian church.
One daughter and three sons survive: Mrs. Etta Simpson,
Curtis, Neb.; Emerson McCarty, Denver, Col.; Cassius McCarty, Los
Angeles, and Dick McCarty, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at the Harry McCarty home
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. C. E. Houk.
Interment will be in the West Alexander cemetery."
"DAVID POLLOCK CRAFT - David Pollock Craft, aged
21, son of William I. and Lenora Craft, South Brownsville, died May [3
?] 1923, in the West Penn hospital [sic, small 'h'], Pittsburg [sic].
His death was due to pneumonia, following an operation for
appendicitis. Funeral
services were conducted by Rev. Will T. Swaim, pastor of the Central
Presbyterian church, at the home of his parents in South Brownsville,
May 4. 'Dave' as he was
called by all who knew him, was born Nov. 27, 1901, at Carmichaels.
He entered the South Brownsville High school in 1916 and was
graduated with the class of 1920. He
was a member of the South Brownsville High school baseball team for four
years. He attended
Washington and Jefferson college, term of 1920-21, and was a member of
the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He
played shortstop on the Washington and Jefferson baseball team in 1921.
After leaving college he entered a commercial school in Pittsburg
[sic] for the term of 1921-22. After
finishing the commercial school course, he was employed as an accountant
by Continental Mine No. 1, Fayette county.
Members of Beta Theta Pi fraternity acted as pall bearers.
The interment was made in Jefferson cemetery."
"MRS. EMMA T. CRABBE - Mrs. Emma Tacker Crabbe,
widow of Robert Crabbe, a former meat dealer of the Seventh ward,
Washington, died last evening at 9 o'clock at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Matthew M. Wilson, East College street, Canonsburg, in her [72nd ?]
year. Mrs. Crabbe was born
in England, but came to America about [45 ? 46 ?] years ago.
She had lived in Washington until the death of her husband, about
three years ago. Last March
she suffered a slight stroke and had been in failing health since that
time. She was a member of
the Chartiers United Presbyterian church, Canonsburg.
