Hans Leonard Holtzappel was born on 21 February, 1683 and was baptized 23 February 1683, per the register of the Michelfeld Lutheran Church.  He was a son of Hans Jacob Holtzapfel and his wife, Maria Margaretha.  Michelfeld is located near Sinnsheim, in Baden, Germany.

Leonard married Anna Barbara Katterman on 20 February 1705.  Anna Barbara was reportedly born 12 April 1671.  Together they had the following known children:

Anna Barbara, born c1707.
She married John Adam Ruppert on 25 April 1730.

Erasmus (Asmus), born 21 September 1710.
He married Christina Rausher on 14 February 1738.

Agnes Catharina, born c. 18 June 1711/13.  According to an entry in the church register, she died in July 1713.

Leonard and his family left their home in Germany and traveled to Amerika on the ship, Brittania.  They landed in Philadelphia, Pa. on 11 September 1731.  The ship's list contains the following information:

Hans Leonard Holtsapfel- aged 47 years
Erazamus Holtzapfel- aged 20 years
Johan Adam Rupert- aged 25 years
Anna Barbara Holtsapel- aged 57 years
Anna Barbara Katermena- aged 23 years
Anna Barbara Rupert- aged 24 years

No further information for either Leonard or his wife, Barbara, has been located.  It's possible that they resided with Erasmus when he first took up land in York County, Pa.  They do not appear listed as baptismal sponsors for either the children of Erasmus or for their daughter, Barbara Ruppert.

I have uploaded to the WorldConnect Project, 7 generations of descendants of Hans Leonard Holtzappel.

Throughout my years researching this family, I have had the opportunity and pleasure of 'meeting' some great people.   One of the first persons I 'met' was Len Furst-- I'm very thankful for his kindness and generosity in sharing his own personal research with me on this family.  I've also had the pleasure of meeting both Denny Hultzapple and Michael Lau-- both having been generous in sharing their research on these families.  My heart-felt thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.
