Our Davis family line begins with Alvin Haskins Davis, Sr. born in May 1797. He married Lavinia Seely in Cuyahoga County, Ohio on 10 Oct 1820, and they had six children: Ephraim, Alvin Haskins Jr., Oliver Alvin, William Washington, Sally Lucretia, and Julina Percilla. We have not been able to find the ancestors of Alvin Haskins Davis, Sr. or Lavinia Seely. Our research confirms those of Reta Wingate and Paul Zigler.

Mildred May Davis, daughter of Charles Addison Davis and Julia Ann Buttolph was born on 10 Oct 1895 in Akron, Ohio. Charles Addison Davis was the grandson of Alvin Haskins Davis, Sr.  Mildred married Harry Edward Harter on 30 May 1913 in Akron. Harry was the proprietor of several grocery stores around the Akron area, the last being called Harry Harter Grocery Store. He was born in Canton, Osnaburg in Stark County, Ohio to Otis L. Harter and Amelia Beltze.
