In 1776 and during the American Revolutionary War, Johannes Abel served as a private in Captain Henry Fister's Company in the German Battalion. Also serving was Henry Cronies (a.k.a. Henry Croneiss) who witnessed the marriage of Johann Abel and Magdalena Ditlo and also witnessed the will of Johann Michael Hochwaerter, father-in-law of Daniel Abel. [Information researched by Geneva Jinx Hartung]

Johannes hanged for the murder of his wife, Mary Magdalena Ditlo.
