  • Porter Cox, Sr. would pick up Amelia on his way home from work, and she would stay at his home for days at a time.

  • "She loved to sing hymns and each evening as Mom (Genevra Mercer Cox) played the pump organ, Amelia walked the floor and sang. Her voice was musical and pretty."

  • "She pieced quilts and once left a 'crazy-patch' quilt at our house which was not exactly 'shapely'."

  • "Amelia was rather short and buxom and used her ample bosom for handkerchiefs, mints & letters, etc. (All the necessary items were quite visible in her pretty flowered dresses)."

  • "She went to church regularly in town and enjoyed the 'tureen dinners'."
