This Return is intended to show, with respect to England & Wales (exclusive of the Metropolis),-
1. The number and names of owners of land of one acre and upwards, whether built upon or not, in each County, with the estimated acreage and annual gross estimated rental of the property (estimated rental is the rental the land or property would return if let) belonging to each owner.
2. The number of owners of land, whether built upon or not, of less than one acre, with the aggregate acreage and the aggregate gross estimated rental of the land of such owners.
3. The estimated extent of commons and waste lands in each county.
A = Acre = 4840 square yards or 4046.86 square metres
R = Roods = one quarter of an acre this also = one square Rod
P = Perch or Pole = 30 and a quarter square yards
A Rod is a linear measure of 5½ yards but in the returns it is a measure of area.
