Margaret Byres Harkness (daughter of Richard Harkness and Janet McIntosh) was born December 11, 1882 in Braeside, Ontario, Canada; and died August 02, 1973 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Widowed in 1925, with a young daughter, Margaret showed extraordinary strength and grace. She worked as a child care giver and a companion to the elderly. She aquired her own home on Seneca Street in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
One of Margaret's many talents was scrapbooking. She collected and preserved many items pertaining to the family history (some of which are posted throughout this site, courtesy of her daughter Christena).
"Aunt Maggie ... When I was one year old in 1944, she made me a little stuffed horse for Christmas. For 30 years or so, my mother hung it on the Chrismas tree as part of the decorations. Then I started putting it on my tree but with all the moving, I lost it . That was sad.",Michael Lamothe.
She married John Henry Lawlor (born about July 01, 1870 in Greely, Ontario, Canada; died January 07, 1925 in Bemidji, Minnesota, U.S.A.) son of James Lawlor and Mary Corbett, on June 29, 1921 in Metcalfe, Ontario, Canada.

i. Sarah Christena Lawlor ,born November 15, 1922 in Bemidji, Minnesota, U.S.A.; married Charles Alfred Kearns November 20, 1954, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
