2.  PETER F.3 LEHMAN (ABRAHAM2, GEORGE1) was born September 27, 1812 in Pennsylvania, and died February 27, 1897.  He married MARY ANN MOSER January 1835, daughter of PHILLIP MOSER and CATHERINE EXLINE.  She was born January 27, 1816, and died July 30, 1870.

1850 Census, Harrison Township, Bedford County, PA:  Peter Lehman is a farmer, real estate worth $800.  Living with him are wife, Mary Ann; children Samuel, 12; Henry Clay, 8; Espy, 5; William, 4; John, 1; and Sarah C, 10.  Also in the home is 30-year-old Solomon Miller, a laborer.

1850 Federal Census, Fayette County, PA:  Elias Lehman (occupation unreadable) and wife Maria, 19, with 8-month-old daughter, Hannah A. Lehman - this must be Ann.

 

1860 Federal Census, Dunbar Township, Fayette County, PA:  Elias' occupation is listed as "domestic".

 

Elias Lehman was a Civil War Veteran, as noted on his tombstone in Franklin Cemetery.   He enlisted on 3/31/1864 as a Private.  On 3/31/1864 he mustered into "K" Co. PA 116th Infantry

1900 Census, North Union Township, Fayette County, PA:  Mariah Lehman, 70, is living with her two granddaughters, Elizabeth Gibson, 16, (born November 1883) and Hazel Lehman, 8 (born November, 1891).  This census lists Mariah as being born in May, 1830.  She states that she has given birth to 12 children, 10 of which were still living.

 

1910 Census, North Union Township, Fayette County, PA:  Mariah Lehman, 79, is living alone.

 

1920 Census, North Union Township, Fayette County, PA:  Maria Lehman, 88, and daughter Annie Ross, 70, widowed, are living together.

5.  SAMUEL B.4 LEHMAN (PETER F.3, ABRAHAM2, GEORGE1) was born February 09, 1837/1838 in Harrison Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died February 4, 1908 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.  He married (1) MARY UNKNOWN 1866.  She was born 1844, and died July 03, 1903 in South Greensburg, Pa.  He married (2) MARY JANE JOHNSON October 12, 1905 in Most Holy Sacrament Church, Greensburg, PA, daughter of THOMAS JOHNSON and ISABELLA UNKNOWN.  She was born August 1867 in Marietta, Ohio.

 

Notes for SAMUEL B. LEHMAN:

1870 Census for Londonderry Township, Bedford County, PA:  Samuel's occupation is Laborer.  He is living with wife Mary, and daughters Anna S. and Loretta.

 

In the 1879 Londonderry Township Directory, Hyndman, S. B. Lehman's occupation is listed as laborer.

 

1880 Census for Hyndman, Londonderry Township, Bedford County, PA:  Samuel's occupation is Justice of the Peace.

 

In the 1900 Census, the family is living on Washington St., South Greensburg, PA.  Samuel runs a hotel.  Josephine and Rosalia are living at home.  Samuel and Mary have had 11 children, 4 of which are still living.

 

 

 

From the 1910 Census, South Greensburg, , Westmoreland County:

Mary J. Lehman, listed as head, with her family.  Mary is a widow, born in Ohio, parents born in Ireland.  She has had 4 children, 3 of which are living.  Her age is listed as 42.

As occupation, she lists "None".  Son Samuel, 3, is born is PA, father born in PA, mother born in Ohio.  James and Herbert are employed by the railroad; James as "call-man", Herbert as machinist.  Both list their father as having been born in England.

From the 1930 Census, Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County, PA:  Edward(Edwin?) George and Mary Jane are now married and living together on the farm.  Again, there is no mention of Samuel Lehman.  {At this time, Sam's brother James was probably deceased and Herbert would have been living out of state with his family.}
