Moroch-na-nGaodhail: son of Donoch, King of Leinster. 115. Morogh: his son; slain A.D. 1193. 116. Donoch Reamhar: his son. Had a brother named Connor. 117. Murtagh: his son. 118. Donoch: his son. 119. Redmond: son of Donoch. Had a younger brother Dermot who was the father of Maurice, father of Donoch Dubh (dhu). (Donoch- Some members of the "O'Murphy" family are of the opinion that this Donoch Dubh MacMurough was the ancestor of their family; but (see the "Murphy" genealogy in pp. 321-323 of the Third Edition of our IRISH PEDIGREES,) we must go nine generations farther back than Donoch MacMurough, for the ancestor of the "O'Murphy" family. 120. Sheanach: son of Redmond; had a brother Maurice. 121. Manus: son of Sheanach. 122. Daibhidh Mor: his son; a quo MacDaibidh Mor, anglicised MacDaniel-Mor, MacDamore, Davidson, Davis, Davison, Daws, Dawson, Davy and Davys. Had a brother Richard. The descent from this Daibhidh (or David) Mor MacMorough is carried down four generations more on the "Davidson" genealogy, in the Third Edition of our "Irish Pedigrees", namely down to Patrick McDavid Mor. (The patrimony of the "MacDavid Mor" family lay about Glascarrig, Co. Wexford, and is now known as the Macnamores. Redmond MacDavid Mor was the chief of this sept. A.D. 1611.) 123. Bhadhach ("badhac": Irish, loving, famous.) MacMorrough: son of Richard; a quo MacVaddock, in Irish MacBhadhaigh. In English this Bhadhach's name was written "Bhaday". The patrimony of this family was about Gorey, county Wexford. Of this Sept was Teige Mac Vaddock, who was living temp. King Henry VIII.; and whose son Donal McVaddock and Teige obtained a pardon on 20th Nov. 6 Edward VI. A.D. 1552. ... p. 113 Pedigrees The Murphy Family Lords of Hy-Felimy, county Wexford. Commencing with Murtagh, who is No. 120 on the "Murphy" pedigree, the following is the genealogy of this branch of that family: 120. Murtagh O'Morchoe (This surname is now rendered Murphy: see the "Murphy" genealogy at pp. 321-323 of the Third Edition of our Irish Pedigrees.), of Tobberlimnich (now rendered "Toberlumny"), Chief of his Sept. Had A.D. 1460, a charter to entitle him to use English law over his Sept and his country; according to a Petition still preserved among the State Papers in England. This Murtagh, together with Kavanagh, Kinselagh, and MacDavy Mor held their lands by descent or primogeniture, according to the English Law, and not by Tanistry- which was the Irish Custom. (This sept, however, cared but little for "English Law", as they still continued to follow their ancient laws and customs; retaining power and jurisdiction, as well as territory, for a considerable period subsequent to that date- their chiefs keeping gallowglasses (or armed soldiers) for offensive and defensive purposes, and for levying dues from their subjects. In the middle of the sixteenth century "The O'Morchoe" (Donal Mor, No. 123 on this pedigree) enforced "cain" (cain; Irish, rent, tribute, fine) due to him as Tighearna or Chief of the Sept.) 121. Teige: his son. 122. Art: his son. 123. Donal Mor: his son; Chief of his sept. Was possessed of the "Wilde Orcharde" alias "Owllarde Lyah" (more recently rendered Ouleartleagh), and was "aggressed to pay yearly as Kildaris Duties for the defence of 'O' Moroghe Country', at Michaelmas XX Kyne or X Milkine, A.D. 1537." Had a brother Teige. 124. Art, of Tobberlimnich: son of Donal Mor; Chief of his Sept. 125. Donal, of Tobberlimnich: his son; Chief of his Sept. 126. Conall, of Tobberlimnich: his son; Chief of his Sept; died October 1634, and was buried at Castle Ellis. (According to "Molyneux's Visitation of the County Wexford," preserved in the Office of Ulster King-of-Arms, Dublin Castle, this Conall O'Morchoe died in 1634, and was buried at Castle Ellis.) This Conall married Joan, dau. of Donal an Spaineach Kavanagh, of Clonmullen, co. Carlow, and had five sons and seven daughters: The sons were- 1. Teige, of whom presently; 2. Succeeded his father in 1634, being then of full age; married Anne, daughter of David Redmond, of p. 114 Rahin-Callengallen (or Rabinedrum-gullion), gent., and had Art, of whom presently. This Teige "was seized in fee on 23rd October, 1641, of Tobberlimnich and Tourknick, 170 acres; Garrybranagh, 182 acres; Monganbo, 111 acres; Crymure and Kilmaloney, 109 acres; Total, 572.
