The Deputy will pay MacMurgho the stipend accustomed to be paid is ancestors on exhibition of title within 6 months: and MacMurghoe will do the accustomed service. 7. He gives as hostages Edmundum filium Johannis Juvenis O Bryn et filium Johannis Baulaghe vulgariter nuncupati Shane Baulaghe's son. The jurors say that the late monastery or priory of the cathedral church of Holy Trinity of the order of canons of S. II. 1386 At a council of the Marq: of Dublin, Trim 18 July, before Richard White, prior of Kilmainham, justiciar, and others, in view of the confederacy of McMurrough and OKerwill, threatening a final conquest of Co. Kilkenny, and that the justiciar had to make head against the Irish in open war on the northern borders... Therefore as there was no money in the marquiss's treasury to pay fighting men, it was agreed that beyond his fees of office the chancellor should be paid 20s a day from 19 July till his return to Meath. Another Mem. 1 Nov 1386 says that Arthur McMurrough had been admitted to peace and sworn to allegiance. He was to be paid 20 marks a quarter while he behaved faithfully.
