MAURICE J. WALSH (1865-1907) Son of Maurice Walsh & Bridget Reen
CATHERINE McCARTHY (1871-1904) Dau. of Edward McCarthy & Catherine Hyland

Maurice was born and raised on his father's farm in Mendota Township, Dakota County. He apparently moved into St. Paul some time in the 1880s and attended St. Michael's church. It was there that he met and, in 1891, married Catherine. She was born in Lakeville and apparently moved into the city. Maurice and his wife continued to live on St. Paul's "west side" after their marriage.

Catherine died prematurely in 1904 and was brought back to Lakeville for burial. Maurice was left with a young family to raise. After his death in 1907, the children were apparently sent to live with relatives. The youngest was eventually adopted by Catherine's sister Mrs. Moran of Rosemount.
