"Biography of Edmund Mark Zawacki"

EDMUND MARK ZAWACKI was born March 12, 1847 in Danzig (now
Gdansk), Poland.  His parents were born in Germany according to
his death certificate.  Edmund landed at the Port of New York
from Poland, a German citizen in April 1880.  He became a United
States citizen on April 16, 1897 in Benton County where he farmed
near Gilman, Minnesota.  Edmund married MARY FROST, daughter of
JOSEPH FROST, and together they raised eight children in Benton
County.  Mary was born September 12, 1851 in Danzig and died
September 19, 1919 in Gilman, Minnesota.  Edmund died January
2, 1916 in Gilman, Minnesota.

iv. ANTON ZAWACKI, b. 1886, d. 1901 in Foley, MN
    
v. JOSEPH ZAWACKI, b. 1886 in St. Paul, MN, d. 1943 in Gilman, MN
    
vi. APOLONIA ZAWACKI, b. 1889 in St. Paul, MN, d. 1925
    
vii. WILLIAM ZAWACKI, b. September 9, 1892 in St. Paul, MN, d.
October 12, 1967, Alberta Township, Benton County
    
viii. BENEDICT ZAWACKI, b. August 29, 1895 in St. Paul, MN, d.
May 1970 in Foley, MN
    
Edmund was my maternal great-grandfather.  My grandfather JOHN
ZAWACKI, SR. worked for the Great Northern Railroad section crew
and with his wife MARY MARKOWSKI who he married January 20, 1908
had 10 children of their own, raising them in Foley, MN.  Mary,
daughter of MICHAEL MARKOWSKI and ROSIE ?, was born August 5,
1887 in Tennessee and died October 12, 1952 in Foley, Minnesota. 
FRANCES MARY ZAWACKI, being one of three daughters, was my
mother.
