The death occurred suddenly on Thursday of Mr Thomas Wilson, for many years a well known Baker and Confectioner of Grey Street. The deceased, who was in his 76th year, and was a native of Fifeshire, Scotland. Mr Wilson acted as Chairman of the Master Bakers' Assoc. during the strikes of 1890 and 1894 and he did good service in keeping the men together. He was for six years in the first class militia and saw active service during the Waikato war.

Many people in Auckland will regret to learn of the death at Melbourne recently of Mrs Katherine A Wooten, who for 10 or 12 years was Matron at the Auckland Hospital. The deceased who was a native of Tasmania and qualified in her profession in Melbourne, will be remembered as a competent and painstaking official. She succumbed to an attack of pneumonia and died in a Private Hospital in the Victorian capital.

Private Henry Youart, reported wounded, he is the 2nd son of Mr and Mrs Youart of, Incholm, North Otago, where he was born and educated. He is 24 years of age and up to the time of his enlistment had followed farming pursuits in different parts of the Dominion. He enlisted in Auckland a few months after the war broke out and left with the 6th reinforcements. He served in Gallipoli for a few months before the evacuation and after that, while in Egypt, he met his younger brother, Gunner Bert Youart, who was only 19 years of age and who was with the 9th reinforcements. The brothers had not met for some years and as the younger was then only a boy, his brother hardly recognised the young soldier in khaki.
