The purpose of his web site is to honor our ancestors and to provide information to their living descendants. We welcome your comments and any relevant information you would like to contribute for inclusion here. We will be adding information and families, so this is just a beginning.

The Brown Family Association is a non-profit family association which was formed in 1996 for the purpose of organizing and holding annual family reunions, publishing a newsletter to keep subscribers informed, and to further research and preserve our family history and traditions for current and future generations.

The tradition of holding annual family reunions began in 1936 by brothers, George Irving Brown, John Oliver Brown, and Charles Alton Brown, grandsons of George Alton Brown.  Reunions were held every year at the George Irving Brown home in Shady Grove, Montague County, Texas, until the death of George Irving Brown in 1960.  Reunions were resumed in 1996 and have been held annually, and are now held bi-annually.

2007 BROWN FAMILY REUNION

The 2007 Brown Family Reunion for the descendants of GEORGE ALTON BROWN and their families and friends will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 11 and August 12, 2007 at Cline Lodge in Ceta Glen at the Ceta Canyon Camp & Retreat Center. Ceta Canyon is located about 45 miles southeast of Amarillo, Texas. From Amarillo, go south on I-27, take the Wayside Exit #94 and go east on FM 285 for 8 miles; turn north onto FM 1721 and continue for 2.5 miles straight into Ceta Canyon.

This is a return visit for the Brown Family since annual reunions were held there in 1996 through 1999. It is a beautiful natural canyon with animal wildlife, hiking trails, sports area, recreation hall, and swimming pool. Cline Lodge has six rooms with bath, with six bunk beds per room, a large meeting room and kitchenette. The charge for an overnight stay with 3 meals is about $55 per adult (over age 12) based on 6 occupants per room. Meals are served in the cafeteria at 6 pm, 8 am, and 12:30 pm. Check-in time is 4 pm and check-out time is Noon.

Reservations are important since a contract has to be signed and submitted in January 2007 with a $5 non-refundable deposit for each person listed. While we can add numbers, we will be responsible for 80% of the number reserved. If all 6 rooms are filled in the Lodge, there are also nearby cabins and dormitories which may be available. Of, if you prefer privacy, there are motels in Canyon that you can check for availability. A list of places providing accommodations can be found at http://www.canyonchamber.org/lodging.html and www.canyon-tx.com. The nearest airport is Amarillo International Airport, just east of Amarillo, where car rentals are available.

If you haven't seen the "Texas" production at Palo Duro Canyon, plan on arriving on Friday for that evening's production.

The reunion will start on Saturday afternoon.  Be sure to bring your swimsuits or hiking clothes since check-in isn't until 4 pm.  Dressing rooms are available at the swimming pool for changing.   Indoor and outdoor activities are planned for the afternoon and evening -- washers, horseshoes, badminton, dominoes, etc.  Dinner will be at 6 p.m.

A $25 deposit is requested with your registration to help with expenses. For further information, please contact:
