Our Klein/Cline ancestors apparently descended from German immigrants.   An Andreas Klein, born about 1705 in Germany, arrived on the ship Brothers in Philadelphia PA, September 16, 1751.  The IGI, reflects that an Andreas Klein married Maria Uberbellig 19 Jan. 1728, Pr. Rheinland, Freudesburg, Katholisch.  An Andreas Michael Klein applied to emigrate to Pennsylvania with his wife and two children on April 28, 1752 in Sachsenhausen, Germany, and an Andreas Klein arrived August 26, 1753 on the ship Beulah.  The IGI also shows a Valentine Klein was christened December 1753 at Trinity Lutheran Church in PA; parents:  Andreas and Eva Maria Klein.

While there is uncertainly and debate as to whether Valentine was born in Lancaster County, PA, or immigrated with his parents from Germany, the consensus seems to be that our ancester Valentine Cline was christened in December 1753 (at or near the time of his birth) and was the son of an Andreas and Maria Klein from Germany.

Valentine Cline moved from PA to Lincoln County, NC, where he married Anna Gertrout Cansler, daughter of Philip W. Gentzler and Juliana Wintermyer, about 1780.  Their children are established by the probate of the estate of Valentine Cline which was settled in 1808, and the will of Gertrude Cline in Lincoln County, NC:
