JOHN GEDDIS and ANNIE SMALL were born in Ireland in 1851.  County and parents unknown.  They apparently married in Ireland, and their first son, ARCHIBALD GEDDIS was born in Ireland in 1871.

By 1872, when their son DANIEL MARSHALL GEDDIS was born, they lived at #165 Townhead in Kirkintilloch, Dumbarton, Scotland.  JOHN's  occupation is listed as mason.  They were still living at that address in Kirkintilloch when the British census was taken in 1881.  Their son, JOHN B. GEDDIS, was born in Kirkintilloch in 1877.

The family migrated to Canada, and then to Ogdensburg, NY between 1881 and 1897. They changed the spelling of their name to GEDDES after arriving in Canada.

Their son ARCHIBALD GEDDES settled in Syracuse NY.  He worked on boats on the Great Lakes.

Their son DANIEL GEDDES graduated from Amherst in 1897.  He then attended Auburn Theological Seminary and became a Presbyterian minister in Buckland, Massachusetts, and perhaps in other parishes.  DANIEL GEDDES was a WW1 veteran and married FLORENCE ERNESTINE TAYLOR.  Their daughter, ERNESTINE TAYLOR GEDDES, b. Their son JOHN B. GEDDES was a Spanish American War veteran, lived in Dannemorah and Ogdensburg, NY. He was a boxer, laborer, and a prison guard at Dannemorah.  John B. GEDDES m.
