James A. Shouldice and Frances Ann O'Hara

James Shouldice was born 1837 in Masham, Gatineau, Quebec. According to research done by Reby Dodds he was the first white child born in the area. The O'Hara home was on the north-eastern shore of Fairbairn Lake. James died 1925 in Ironwood, Michigan, USA, after immigrating in 1880. On April 6, 1860 he married Frances O'Hara.

Frances' parents were John O'Hara and Diana Loton. Frances was born about May 1843, according to her obituary, and died May 1, 1913. James and Frances had ten known children, all born in Masham, Quebec between 1861 and 1896. Her obituary also says she moved to Gogebic, Michigan in 1886.

Ron Shouldice - mentioned in his mother's obit as living in Battle Creek. There is an Alonzo Shouldice living in Battle Creek in 1900 so I'm wondering if Ron is a nickname for Alonzo. Alonzo is not mentioned in his mother's obituary.

Joseph Shouldice and Sarah Jane Rielly

Joseph, nicknamed Blue Sea Josie, was born 1836 in Masham, Gatineau, Quebec according to some researchers. Wesleyan Baptism records (accessed online) say he was born June 22, 1849 in Nepean, Ontario. He died July 27, 1920 in Rupert, Quebec.

Sarah "Jane" was born in 1851, the daughter of William Rielly and Mary Jane Johnston. Her parents' names come from the marriage record as transcribed by Cindy McClelland. Sarah died in 1899.

Joseph and Jane were married October 15, 1873 in Aylwin, Quebec. By 1913, when daughter Hazel is married, they are living in Chelsea, PQ.

Thomas and Jennie homesteaded in Togo, Saskatchewan where they had five children, according to Fred's research - Duncan, James, John, Margaret, and Joseph. Thomas' parents were John and Elizabeth Gunness.



William Shouldice and Eliza Jane McClelland

William was born 1847 in Masham, Quebec and died in Ironside, Michigan. His cousin, Eliza Jane was born about 1866, daughter of Margaret Shouldice and James McClelland. The 1880 census for Angelica, Shawano, Wisconsin says she is 28, so her birthdate would be 1852. She also died in Ironside, Michigan.
