Rayburn & Margaret Cunningham - 1959
Born August 14, 1886 in Iriquois County, Illinois, Rayburn R. Cunningham was the oldest of 10 sons born to Alfred and Mary Jane Cunningham. Before he was three years old, the family had moved to Hamilton County, Nebraska, in or near the community of Trumbull.
It was while living in Hamilton County that he became acquainted with and later married Margaret Pearl Thompson. Born May 31, 1887 in Giltner, Nebraska -- also in Hamilton County -- Margaret was the fourth of six children born to Robert and Charlotte Thompson. Rayburn and Margaret were married February 5, 1909 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Their oldest child, Eva, was born in Perry, Iowa, but the rest of their children were born in Nebraska and raised in and around Whitney, Nebraska, where Rayburn and Margaret spent the rest of their lives.
