THOMPSON

David Thompson and his wife, Mary (Boyle) Thompson were both born in Scotland in the early 19th Century, probably around 1830. We don't know when or how they came to the United States, and we know virtually nothing about their ancestors. We do know that their son, Robert George Thompson, was born 25 October 1856 in Dunleitle, Illinois.

When George was 22 years old, he married Charlotte Powell, whose ancestors are believed to have come through Canada. They were married on New Year's Day of 1879, probably at the south-central Nebraska town of Giltner. All six of their children were born at Giltner, including Margaret Pearl Thompson, shown at right. She lived from 1887 to 1982 and was married to Rayburn R. Cunningham. They had nine children.
