MAIDEN FAMILY TREE

Our earliest direct Maiden ancestor about whom we know enough to share information was George Maiden, born in Knox County, Tennessee in 1811 and died in 1891 at Toledo, Iowa.

It was George's son, William Henry Maiden, who made the trek westward from Whiteside County, Illinois, where he was born in 1848, to Carroll, Iowa and then to western Nebraska in 1886. William "Henry" Maiden married Dora Ellen Derrick, establishing the first link with the Derrick family -- another interesting family we've researched. The Maiden family became a prominent ranch family of Dawes County, Nebraska, until Henry's untimely death in 1911.

William Henry and Dora Ellen's sole child was William Joseph "Bill" Maiden, born in 1886 on the family's White River homestead about 14 miles northeast of Chadron, Nebraska.
