ABOUT WILLIAM "HENRY" MAIDEN

Although his father had children by other wives, William Henry Maiden was the first of four children born in the marriage between George Maiden and Sara Templeman. George was first married to Jaley Chitty. She died in November 1844. Nearly two years later, 17 September of 1846, he married Sara Templeman in Lawrence County Indiana.

William Henry Maiden was born April 1, 1848 in Whiteside County, Illinois shortly after the family moved there. He had two older stepbrothers, Andrew jackson Maiden and Joseph Maiden, and one older stepsister, Emily Jane Maiden. There amy also have been one more older stepbrother named James, although there is no sifnificant evidence to verify that.
