HIS GRANDPARENTS
Grandma Pierson and Grandpa, he said, first had a place just this side
of where Cranfills Gap is now. Then they moved to the Leon River right
after the Civil War in 1865. He couldn’t remember for sure whether she
came to Hamilton in 1873, but thinks so. Grandma lived in the log house in
1874, at the time Patrick Adamson was killed. (Drawing water from her well
when Hughes shot him. Old house across road from Baptist Church.
Then grandma leased the two-story hotel on the corner January 1, 1896.
Later she owned it. In the summer of 1873 they went on the fishing trip on
the Cow House it seems. They came through Hamilton and picked up John
Witcher. Thought Adam had already been killed.
