THE OXM BRAND - THE BLACKS
Interview on April 20, 1943
George Black at Comanche had told me his father used to pasture cattle
from Hamilton with that brand. Mr. Williams said that was the brand of
Hearne & Company at Hamilton. Mr. Black has said that they put them
for five years on the halves, on the 80,000 (or 800,000) acre ranch of his
father, William Black at Fort McKavett (west of Menard) in 1885, and that
the relations were very satisfactory.
Mr. Williams said the three Heath Brothers, whose reputation was not
too good, took the cattle from here out there, and never came back to this
country, six or eight hundred of them. His brothers, John Mark and Hal,
went with them to take the cattle out there. Had their cooks and outfits.
