GEORGE GENTRY, AGAIN
That Gentry was really a good man in many ways. We agreed that we
couldn’t judge a man then by present day standards, conditions being so
different. He said he was always sorry that he shot him but it was passed.
(Not fatal. Recovered.) Said they never mentioned it. This itself showed
his generosity. He said he never did take a cussing from anybody. That
Gentry was overbearing, really very much so and that he was just so
constituted that he couldn’t take it. That Gentry evidently didn’t
hold it against him or wouldn’t have asked him to do things in after
years for him. They fished together lots on the Leon but never mentioned
the incident.
