PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH

1921--1944

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church became part of the Hamilton County Baptist Association on 31 August, 1921, and functioned until 1944 when it disbanded. Littleville Baptist Church became the recipient of the Pleasant Grove Tabernacle as well as many of its members. Pleasant Grove began as a Sunday School in the Eidson School which is the location of the current cattle auction of US 281 about four miles north of Hamilton.

A Sunday school was organized in March, 1921, at the Eidson School house by W. A. Todd, Associational Missionary for the Hamilton County Baptist Association. Todd preached monthly at the Eidson school until July when Bro. J. M. The church building--a tabernacle--was erected on what is now County Road 101, 1.3 miles north of the intersection with County Road  102.  A few concrete blocks remain on the east side of CR101, where the church was located.  The tabernacle was erected  across what is now County Road 101 from the Taylor home.
