The above network diagram is based on the public DNA data shown at the Winn Surname DNA Project at FTDNA and AncestryDNA, and representations of the claimed descents as provided in public domain repositories variously. Because the sample size is small, the topology of this maximum parsimony unrooted tree may not be robust against future samples. However, this is how it appears given the present understanding of the DNA and the descents of the samples.

The main finding is that the DYS576 mutation appears to distinguish the line of William, the son of Joshua, the son of Col. Robert Wynne to the exclusion of all other lines, to a specific generation. That is to say, it appears likely that all Wynne men who test DYS576 and who have the same value as #93872 and #86037 on that marker will also have a similar descent path.

The main technical finding is that the most useful markers in distinguishing the various lines of descent from Col. Robert Wynne are in the 26-37 FTDNA panel, and are not in the AncestryDNA "46"-marker test. Therefore, all Wynne men who think they may want to know their position in the sub-branching of the Col. Robert Wynne tree should test with FTDNA, and test at least 37 markers.

The main confounding data is the appearance of DYS570=20 in separate lines. This could represent equivalent parallel mutation, or it could be evidence that one or more of the claimed descents is in error.
