Welcome to the Belcher Blues Newsletter for April 2003.
This months focus is on Oregon,Washington, and Montana Research.
Many people traveled by covered Wagons into Oregon along the Oregon Trail.
Not as many of our ancestors were found in the early parts of the North Western area of America. We will be researching several states together.
We also have a special page of Partial Census for 1810 in this issue.
A photo page is being built of all the photos we have. If you wish to contribute a photo send it to either one of us with information.
We try not to post a photo of a living person without their permission, so ancestors photos are best.
If you have read our newsletters at all you will know that Greg and I both have red, white, and blue blood in our veins, so we feature a special editorial page of our support for our troops and the USA.

I recently came across a photo of my great grandfather Edd J. Belcher. He is in this picture also my grandfather Leslie Ratliff. Would it be possible for me to mail you a copy of this photo and you maybe post it in your newsletter and see if anyone recognizes it. There are 11 other people in this photo besides my grandparents. And I am assuming that they are all Belchers. This was my grandmother's picture. It was taken between 1916 and 1920. Please let me know and send me your address and I will mail you a copy of it.

Hello,
My name is Brett and I am 14 years old. I have been working on geneology for
four years. I found your website my great-great-great grandmother was
Malinda Ramey she married Ellison Brown. Her father was John Ramey married
Mary Henry, his father was also John Ramey who married Edith Browning.
Do you think I am related to the John Ramey mentioned on your website and how
accurate is your information. Thank you E-Mail
Wonderful source of info to help with my research. My GG grandfather was Greeley Belcher who married Louisa Ramey.
He was a Constable and was shot and killed. My grandfather K. Hassel Belcher Sr. was also shot that day(he was around 17 at the time)but survived. Other than that I don't know much about him. My GGGG grandfather was Bartley Belcher who also married a Ramey (Rachel Ramey). Most of my family still remain around Russell Co., VA.
I have lived in Texas since 1946, but was born in the Kanawha Valley in W. Va. in 1916. My mother, Rena Mae Belcher passed along much of the Belcher information that I have recorded in my data base . . . and I have found dozens of cousins here in Titus, County, TEXAS IF I can figure out how GEORGE BELCHER had children when he was both 9 years old and 90 years old!!!! I have to seperate data that has a couple or three George's all thrown into the life of ONE George.

I was born in Pike County, Kentucky. My mother is Georgia Potter Belcher and my father was Claude Marvin Belcher. My grandfather was George Washington Belcher. My great-grandfather was William Belcher born in 1859. My great-great-grandfather was Isaac Belcher born in 1835.
Your web site is wonderful. It's the best thing I have found yet on the Belcher family.

Do you happen to know if any Belcher family is thinking of doing a DNA project??
FamilyTreeDNA has a listing of lots and lots of families who are doing DNA projects. Some of us who have dead ends could benefit if some of the Belchers who have documented their ancestors would start a DNA project to see if some of who do not know may match up.
Thanks in advance for any advice or comments. from Ruth Tinker Smith E-Mail
Hello; I am 71 years old and just recently found that i am descendant of this family through my mother's father Jackson Ramey who was from Kentucky and was of French descent . On my grandparent's marriage certificate his name is written Jackson Rama. I know his father was Henry Ramey [Remy] [Rama]and that his mother was Adeline Tackett and that makes it more sure that this is my family. Your website is great and I see that his grandfather was Daniel Ramey who wed Lucinda Carty and the photo you have of the tombstone is great. If you are in this relation of this Henry or his father Daniel's line please email me as I would like to communicate with those who know of this ancestry. If I am seeing it correctly, this Daniel who wed Lucinda, his father is William Ramey of Elkhorn City, Ky. This Adeline Tackett was mostly Cherokee Indian as her mother was full blooded Cherokee and had an Indian name. I hope to find out her name from my living cousin who may know. She does have a picture of Henry and Adeline Tackett Ramey she told me a few days ago.
Sincerely, Wanda Merrill and I was born and raised in Huntington, W.Va. right next to Kentucky and I never saw my grandfather Jackson Ramey as he left before I was born but this 1st cousin remembers him.
Thanks again
