Was wondering if you have found ties to the Belcher's from South Ga.~ Decatur County ~ I know where an OLD Belcher family cemetery is....These Belcher's ran a stagecoach station for the Aligator Stage lines, along the Flint River.
They were supposedly from Burke Co. NC, but I found them in Burke Co. Ga. in the 1800's and they came down to South Ga. around 1830?

Hi,
My name is Glenda Belcher. My husbands name is Roy O'Dell Belcher. I would like to know how the O'Dell name came into his family. His great grandfather was Charlie O'Dell (b. 1879) son of John Daniel Belcher (b.17 Feb 1838) and Sarah Carolyn Lee (b. 03 Jan, 1865), His father was Elijah Clark Belcher (b 1812) in Jasper Co. Ga. Also we have been told that Sarah Lee was the first cousin of General Robert E. Lee. I know that General Lee's half brother died in Clinch Co.Ga. and that is where my husbands grandfather is buried. His name is John O'Dell Belcher.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Glenda

Hello:
I am trying to find the parent's of Elizabeth Lightfoot that married James Green Belcher in Burke Co. Georgia Dec 6, 1860.She and James raised, at least for a while, my GGrandfather Sherod B. Lightfoot, he is listed with them in Barbour Co. Ala in 1870 census. I believe there is a strong connection between the two families. There is Sherod Jackson Belcher. My GGRandfathers brothers are Green Jackson Lightfoot and William Philip Lightfoot. My Grandfather is named Green after, I believe, James Green Belcher. Any help would really be appreciated.

I'm still having loads of problems finding my g-grandfather . . . his name was Ben Belcher (Abt. 1870). On his marriage info he was B.B. Belcher and married Elvira Cosbie Harmon on 16 April 1894. Ben was the son of Robert ? . . . I was thinking is had to be Robert H. & Aurelia Compton Belcher up in Clear Fork District of Mercer Co./WV or Tazewell Co. VA. but I'm just not sure anymore. Anyone?

Hi,
I found your Chaney page while helping a friend. She is looking for her father's family which originated in MD and settled in VA/WV and PA. The given name of Owen has been used for at least three or four generations. Her father was born in MD about 1930. Have you come across any Owen Chaney/Cheneys in your research?

While looking through the various generations, I noticed mention of a John Jacobs. It seemed familiar, so I checked my data files and found John and Anne Cheney Jocobs. They would be my husband's 10th great grandparents. His 5th great grandmother Susannah Jacobs, who married Cavalier Poland in Alleghany Co., MD in 1805, was the ggg-granddaughter of John and Anne.

I also noticed your mention of Robert Browne who married Katherine Cheney. I am specifically interested in Abel Browne. My husband's gggg-grandfather Abel Brown was born the 24 Feb 1768 in Monmouth, NJ. His older brother William was born in MD. Abel is one of our brick walls. We have not been able to locate parents or additional siblings. We know that Abel, his brothers John and William moved to Belmont County, OH before 1804. Another researcher suggested I check MD for Abel's family and that's why your information jumped out at me.

Hello!
I really enjoy your website on the Belcher family! :)
My ggrandfather, Samuel McConkey was married to Joysia Adaline Belcher in Sept. 1865 in Monroe County, TN. I was wondering if you may know who Joysia Adaline's parents were? I am guessing it is Willis and Sarah Belcher, tho i am not sure. I saw them on your webpages, and I have also been researching this line for a looong time. I was wondering, too, if there is Indian blood in the Belcher family line?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
