GA 1st Volunteers He was Mustered Out on 3/18/1862 at Augusta, GA On 4/1/1862 he mustered into "K" Co. GA 2nd Cavalry He died of wounds on 3/10/1863 at Fort Donelson, TN He was listed as: * Wounded 3/10/1863 Fort Donelson, TN source:- Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-1865

        GA 2 CAV K C 4/1/62 3/10/63 MW F.Donelson TN NO Note: 1st GA Co. G Enlisted 8/1/61 as a Private. Mustered out 3/18/62 at Agusta, GA. Enlisted in 2nd GA Cavalry Co. K Mustered in 4/1/62 and was wounded on 3/10/63 at Fort Donelson, TN. Died same day. Residence Decatur Co. GA. Simeon L. was in the same unit and transferred to the 2nd CAV with him. They are probably brothers. Broadfoot and HDS lists the Ist Inf, but not the 2nd CAV. The reference to the Cav comes from Internet roster. Muster Roll for Inf. of box 226, extraction, and record 53, but no record for Cav. NFR.

        Note: DOD Oct 1861, COD Fever/Army, POD Raleigh NC, POB Franklin CO. VA, buried in Patrick Co... VA. He was age 19 and his parents were Thomas and Catherine (Stanley) Belcher. He had a brother named Henry, but I have not been able to connect him to any that I have identified as served in the war.. Listed in VA Archives as Daniel P. of Co. C and Broadfoot lists him as Daniel W., Co. D., with a muster roll of box 382, extraction 4 and number 2654. NFR.

Believe both Davids to be the same person.

        Note: In 14th VA Inf.
        Belcher David B. VA 14 Inf A C 3/16/64 5/30/64 P MW Chester Sta 5/10/64 No Note: Enlisted Dinwiddie Co, VA as a conscript 3/16/64. Present until wounded in action at Chester Station, VA, 5/10/64. Admitted to Chimborazo Hospital 5/11/64. Died of wounds 5/30/64. Buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond, VA. Seven Belchers served in this regiment. On Broadfoot List and regiment history. Muster roll of box 382, extraction 4 and record 2656.
